Carpet Cleaning

How often should I clean my carpets?

Carpet manufacturers recommend that carpets be cleaned at least every 12 months, more often than that if your carpet is subjected to heavier traffic. Regular professional carpet cleaning is also a critical part of the warranty agreement between you and the manufacturer.

I have never had my carpets cleaned, what should I do?

We ask that you prepare your home for cleaning by removing items off of your furniture like plants, lamps and knick-knacks. Please pick up shoes, toys and any other household item resting on the carpet. Additionally, we ask that you remove any refuse or solid waste that will not be picked up by our vacuum.

How long does it take to dry?

Generally 4 to 8 hours under optimal conditions. Please remember that dry times are affected by humidity, temperature, outside temperature, air flow to the area, heavily soiled thick carpeting among other factors. Using fans in any rooms cleaned and turning your air conditioning or heating system on, depending on the time of year, can help accelerate drying time.

Note: Be especially careful when walking from damp, carpeted areas on to hard surfaces to avoid slipping.

Do you move furniture?

We will help you with easily moved furniture such as sofas, chairs, end tables and so forth. We ask that you clear off any item from furniture being moved.

Items such as sleeper-sofas, desks, dressers, entertainment centers, china cabinets, electronics, easily breakable items and other things too heavy to be moved will remain in place, or you may choose to move them prior to our arrival.

Call us at 478-538-8243 if you have any questions regarding this policy.

Do I need to be here during the cleaning?

Your presence is not necessary during the actual work, but we do prefer that you be there when we arrive to discuss the job being done and to provide you an estimate. On average, it will take approximately 30 minutes per area. This time can vary depending on the amount of furniture being moved, how soiled the carpet is, and any necessary spot removal treatments. Please use this information to estimate the time required to complete the work and set your schedule.

Can I walk on the carpets right after cleaning?

Yes, but you will need to make sure that your footwear is completely clean.

Note: Be especially careful when walking from damp, carpeted areas on to hard surfaces to avoid slipping.

Do you match competitor’s prices or coupons?

No we do not. $9.99 per room coupons are the primary indicator that you are dealing with a bait-and-switch company.

Bait-and-switch companies advertise cleaning carpet for a ridiculously low price. When they arrive, they inform you the price they quoted is only for traffic lanes and doesn’t include any cleaning solutions. That’s like washing your hair with no shampoo, and only washing the top of your head.

They will then quote you a per square foot charge for the required cleaning solutions. Their final quote will look something like this:

1 room $9.99 + Cleaning solution (300 sq/ft at $.25) = $75.00 for a total of $84.99 for one room.

That quote will not include optional services such as Scotch-Guard carpet protector etc.

Allied Carpet Care does high quality work at a fair price.

How much do you charge?

Your cost will be determined onsite based on two factors:

  1. By room charge. One room is any area measuring up to 300 square feet. (15’x20’). Larger areas, such as dining room and living room combos are considered two areas. Any area over 300 square feet but less than 600 square feet is priced as two areas. Non-standard area (baths, halls, landings, stair cases, walk-in closets, etc.) are priced separately, usually at a lesser price.
  2. Condition of the carpet. If your carpet requires special treatment for soling such as pet stains, red stains, rust stains, permanent ink etc. will be quoted onsite and agreed upon prior to any work being done.

How can I pay?

Cash, debit and credit cards accepted.

Do you use a truck-mounted unit?

Please remember that there are substances that permanently discolor and stain your carpet. The age and fiber composition of your carpet plays a factor in this.

We guarantee that your carpet will look, smell and feel as good a humanly possible.

Does protector really work?

Yes it does. Having your protector re-applied helps to maintain your carpet and keep it cleaner longer. A dry soil protector comes on most carpet from the manufacturers. This is a wear dated product and is removed over time with every day traffic. Carpet manufacturers recommend that you have this protector reapplied about once a year, and perhaps more often on heavy traffic areas.

Do my carpets get dirty quicker after they are cleaned professionally?

Not if properly cleaned. We use professional cleaning solutions that will not leave a sticky residue. Some cleaners may be using over the counter products such as laundry detergent which can leave a soil attracting residue. With my cleaning process it will not be an issue.

How do you remove carpet odors?

Allied Carpet Care uses odor neutralizing solutions that digest organic odor sources such as vomit, feces, urine, milk, blood, etc. The key to complete removal of an odor is that this product must reach all contaminated surfaces. If the odor causing source has penetrated the subflooring we cannot guarantee complete removal of the odor with conventional steam cleaning.

How often do manufacturers recommend professional cleaning?

Manufacturers recommend having upholstered furniture professionally cleaned every 12-24 months depending on use.

How does Allied Carpet Care clean upholstery?

We use our powerful steam cleaning system whenever possible. Steam cleaning provides the deepest cleaning of all the possible methods. Some fabrics may require a more delicate cleaning system. In this case, we will help you make a decision that best suits your needs and your furniture.

What does steam cleaning do to the protective coating that came with my upholstery?

The protective coating on your upholstery deteriorates over time and is partially removed by all cleaning methods. Manufactures recommend this coating be re-applied after cleaning in order to keep your valuable furniture protected from damage from soil and fabric wear caused by daily living.

How long will it take my furniture to dry?

Generally 3 to 6 hours under optimal conditions. Your specific upholstery fabric will also play a factor on drying times. We utilize high speed fans to expedite the drying process.

How often should I have my tile cleaned?

Many factors play into this decision; foot traffic, children, pets and routine floor cleaning will affect how often you need to have your tile and grout professionally cleaned. One sure indicator is to check an area of tile that does not experience traffic and compare the color of the grout with the tile in the middle of your room. You will immediately realize the color difference is dirt imbedded in the tile and grout.

Call us we will make look as good as new!

How is my tile and grout cleaned?

We use our truck mounted system combined with a high pressure rotary tool, utilizing the best tile and grout cleaning solution on the market today. A grout sealing service is also available; sealing your grout will ensure that your cleaning investment lasts as long as possible.

How long does it take to have my tile cleaned?

Typically 45 to 60 minutes to clean the tile & grout on a 300 sq/ft area. Times can vary based on different factors such as size of the tile, amount of soil in the grout lines, and room configuration. If you choose to have sealant added, it typically takes 2–3 hours to complete the entire process.

Should I have my grout lines sealed?

Grout is a porous that absorbs soil and spills. Sealing your grout will help create a protective barrier, making it easier to clean up dirt and liquid spills before they soak into the grout. The type of sealant you choose will determine the degree of stain resistance.

When can I walk on my tile after sealing is applied?

The sealing agent will dry in approximately 30 minutes. We recommend not walking on the floor until it is completely dry. The sealing agent will fully cure in about 24 hours, please ensure you keep fluids from coming in contact with the sealant during this time.

Do you recommend I clean my tile?

A neutral cleaner is highly recommended. Rinsing after moping with clean fresh water will keep your flooring looking their best. Please avoid harsh chemicals as they can wear down the sealant and cause it to break down prematurely.

What is a sealing agent?

Clear seal is a solution that is applied to the grout after professional cleaning. It provides an invisible layer of protection to grout line. Sealant prevents liquid spills from soaking into the grout giving you more time to clean up after an accident.
